The school funding formula is generated to include financial provision to specifically support the needs of children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.
This funding is prioritised to ensure that teaching and learning creates opportunities for small steps of progress, and are continually made by all pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.
The budget allocation is agreed between our school and the Local Authority at the beginning of each financial year. Detail of how this money is used to support children and young people with SEND is shown below. This is monitored each term by the Governing Body.
At West Rainton Primary School, for those pupils with more diverse needs, SEN Support Plans are created with detailed evidence of supporting resources provided in school. This builds a portfolio of the progress each child makes, and additional funding and financial support can be applied for from the Local Authority. Where we believe that this is necessary, West Rainton Primary school commits to ensuring that applications are made, with appropriate evidence to support. Top up funding may be allocated as a result of this, or funding as part of an Educational Health Care Plan or personal budget.
Detailed assessments and targeted tracking ensure that all learners achieve and make progress at West Rainton Primary School.
At West Rainton Primary School, our notional SEN budget amounts to: £TBC
This is used to support children and young people with SEND.
If a child has complex special educational needs, we could also receive additional funding from the Local Authority to meet the agreed outcomes.
A Costed Provision Map will be developed in liaison with the child, young person, parent or carer. An example of a costed provision map can be found here.
If you would like to discuss your SEND requirements in detail please contact the school to arrange an appointment.
